[vc_row][vc_column][vc_column_text]Name: Nic & Alison
Age: Both 42 (although Nic still gets asked for ID occasionally at the pub)
Occupation: Al is the CFO of a Fintech startup investment firm & Nic works in Operational Risk Management for Macquarie Bank
How long you have been a member at CrossFit Hurstville? Nic joined in late 2019, and after having talked about nothing else other than CrossFit for 12 months, Alison also jumped on board.
What motivates you to get to the gym everyday?
Nic “I am generally pretty lazy and love to not having to think about programming, I like to follow instructions and then just going full send at the first opportunity, the healthy competition inside the gym keeps me going. CrossFit Hurstville has been epic in this regard, as their programming is really well suited to my set of skills (or lack thereof) “
Al “Sometimes it’s hard to get out of bed but I love going to the gym. It sets me up in a good mood for the day ahead, i spend time with my lovely hubby, the great people at CFH and the exceptional coaching staff and get fit in the process. What could be better?”
What are your current training goals?
Nic: My goal is to be able to do all CrossFit exercises RX. I’m still short on handstand walks and need to get better at pistols. What I really need to do also is get more flexible. Lots of work required there.
Ali: Improve my technique on my Olympic lifting, get double unders, do a pull up. When I started I could hardly squat, was pretty weak and jumping up on a box was a terrifying prospect. I take every little win along the journey.
Favourite Exercise/Crossfit movement?
Nic: “I like ring muscle ups, wall balls, rowing, double unders”
Ali: “I enjoy working on the things I am yet to master: rope climbs, toes to bar, pull ups, double unders etc….I enjoy the challenge to do movements I never thought I would do.”
Least favourite exercise/Crossfit movement?
Nic: Burpees, cossack squats, L-sits, I have had an aversion for toes to bar in the past but have learned to live with them at CFH!
Ali: Burpees & bike.
In 50 words or less describe your CrossFit Hurstville Experience?
Nic: “My experience has been wonderful. I come here to get challenged, improve my fitness but also take part in this great, inclusive community. Being a member here has been a privileged which has had a significant positive impact on my wellbeing. Having the ability to train with Alison has been another great motivation. We get each other out of bed, and I get to spend way too much money on questionably useful CrossFit gear for myself.”
Ali: “I thought CrossFit was not for me – it was just for super fit beasts who could do it all and were super strong. From day 1 PK and the team at CFH have proved me wrong. CFH is a place where everyone is welcome – I have felt challenged and pushed when I needed to be and supported always with encouragement from the coaches and other cross fitters to be the best that I can be and keep on improving. I feel happy every day that I walk away from a session feeling exhausted but super happy to be part of this awesome community.”
