Sports you played growing up? I was actually a ballet dancer for a good 10 years. I was told I was strong but did not have a skinny enough build or was flexible enough to be a dancer. So naturally i moved onto running and now crossfit and told ballet to get stuffed! In school i was a cross country runner and I also played touch football and soccer.
How did you come across CrossFit and how long have you been doing it? I have been doing crossfit on and off for 2 years and I came across it through my bestfriend/sister Jess!. Ive always looked up to my older sister and she was the one who got me into running as well. One day she asked me to try it, when i did i thought there was no way i could do it, it looked scary and i was intimated . But, with more training, consistency and hard work and an attitude adjustment i proved to myself that i am capable and it was only then i saw the results.
What do you like most about CrossFit? Everything! I love the amazing community! Passionate, hardworking and dedicated owner Paul! Awesome team! I always feel welcome, am always supported! Im encouraged and pushed to be the best i can be at CFH. This gym is not just another gym it actually cares about its members and isn’t all about making money like so many others. We as a community feel that! We know it and it drives us.
Favourite Exercise/Crossfit movement? Well I’m going to have to say HSPU! Mainly because they frustrate the hell out of me! But i love the challenge! Love being on the journey of mastering a new skill.
Least favourite exercise/Crossfit movement? Bench press! 100% this honestly makes me feel like a little girl everytime ! But its all part of it. And i want to improve even though its not my favourite.
Biggest achievement in CrossFit to date? Open results! Doing almost every RX workout! Achieving new skills like pull ups, chest to bar, toes to bar , lifting heavier , getting new PR’s. And finally my most recent body scan result! Losing 3% body fat and gaining over a 1kg of muscle! I was stoked! Just shows how hard work pays off! And how important consistency in training , nutrition and listening to your coaches is.
What has contributed to your success in the last month? The biggest thing that contributed to my success was consistency! In the past consistency was always a big problem for me and not just in the gym but in everything. Since training consistently, I’ve seen results and it has also transferred in to other parts of my life. Im super thankful for this. And love the physical and mental strength ive gained from crossfit .
In 50 words or less describe your CrossFit Hurstville Experience? My CFH experience in the last 2 years has been a rollercoaster to say the least. I started and loved it! Then gave up a couple of times because i thought i wasn’t good enough or just got lazy! Picked it up again! Then did the same thing. And only now in the last 6 months that have a switched to the full time membership! Been consistent in training, changed my attitude, finally started having confidence in myself and ability have i transformed in every way. My advice to anyone starting is to just stick it out! No one is judging you, we all started there. Keep going. CFH has honestly changed my life! And i cannot thank Paul and all the coaches for their complete dedication and guidance. CFH inspires me to be better, do better, encourage others and give out better vibes!
